The short story of “The black cat” written by Edgar Allan Poe who was the famous writer during his Age. As his own life was that is represent in his work. As title suggests “The black cat”, the cat is being spot light here and cause of mentality about superstition ghost etc. The story ends with the question with superstition. The narrator as unknown man expresses what happened with him due to the cat. Cat plays main lead role as a pet because it can’t imagine The animistic life Poe’s life is reflected by anonymous narrator’s life in this story. The story starts from end and The narration is in flash back.

Ø Critical note on the Poe’s short story of “The Black Cat”.
In this story there are Three character like The narrator and  his wife or The cat is major here from The beginning we come to know animals, with various pet animals not with society. Therefore his life is disinterested and as he said he has a tender heart and docility and humanity of his disposition. And we come to know that he got more than pet animals by his parent from the beginning of life-childhood. He has no friend only animals therefore we can say that animistic life makes him disinterested and dissatisfied his tender heart turns into evil and his intoxication comes in nature as well as pathetic with such suppression after wards he habitual with animal and habitual to feed them and care them. We can say that his mind set becomes like animal so he can’t live normal life as society does.
The main part of his pathetic life occurs because of parent’s hungriness of live, warmth, care and so on what child wants towards parents, none of he got towards his parents.
Another addition in his life to make more sorrow able he got married early. His wife also loved pet animal and they both brought more animal. Therefore narrator’s dissatisfaction and pain become more-overflow. We can apply here
“More is always Too much”
The phrase applies on his life which result comes like
‘Men become alcoholic to hide something’
Rather than we can say that,

“Superstition of life can harm while starting to flow up especially due to alcohol. Because men also think that it is the best weapon to hide and forget something.”

Narrator’s alcoholic nature starts to harm all who lives with him and his lovely, favorite pet-fullest his eye. The empty socate irritates narrator and to escape for the guilty feeling he kills Pluto. Narrator’s wife also said that
That black cat as witches in disguise”
She also followed ancestor’s view point, superstitions. Edgar Allan Poe also deemed in that’s why it is reflected in his works.
When the cat-Pluto another thought that he saws himself for a guilt but as the phrase says,
“What you leave up get more”
Narrator thinks it’s like finished thing but superstition applies here he feels emptiness in his life without Pluto and when he killed Pluto at the very same night his homburg out of fire and narrator doesn’t deem in that but through that narrator tries to make sure the reader about ghost. Now, narrator’s drear into night more Pluto while he starting to find another Pluto. He find same and he thinks incarnation of Pluto. Because the second Pluto comes with gallows symbol which continues realized narrator’s deed the second Pluto absolutely like first in everything but he doesn’t like narrator now the intense relationship with Pluto is with narrator’s wife and Pluto’s behave towards author like he comes with goal to take revenge with him Pluto frequently hurts him and irritates him so we may say that,

“Evil mind can’t recover himself by realizing his deed, but it turns into demoniacal in nature”

As it is saying finally narrator becomes demoniacal in nature and mad and as he wants to end of all evil feeling-escape for it he plans to kill Pluto and at the underground of his house, instead kill Pluto he is killed his wife still he wants to kill Pluto but he leaves up the place. It is said that
“When luck turns into destruction, no one can save own self even”
Same occurs with narrator he plastered his wife’s dead body in cellar’s wall. He feels peace what he never before the all things express his mentality his dissatisfaction, hunger of love and result is that why it is?
At the end while police investigating about the assassination and nit to get even one prove he is caught by own madness in nature as,
“I could get from my heart”

The police doubly searches for and Pluto cries at first muffled and broken like the sobbing of a child then quickly swelling into one long loud and continuously screaming half of horror and half of triumph such as might have arisen only out of hell, conjointly from the throats of the damned in their agony and of the demons the exult in the damnation.
The narrator is caught by the cat and the expression of cat like with red extended mouth and solitary eye of fire, set the hideous beast whose craft had seduced the author into murder, and whose informing voice had consigned narrator to the hangman. Finally narrator’s wife’s sentence proven by the cat and deed of author himself.

Conclusion:-
In short, Poe is even today remembered by the use of Gothic elements. He gave highly influence on other gothic writers. His each and every short story came with new and effective terror, fear and ghostly elements. Most of the Poe’s characters read in psychological way. He is the feather on the height  of American literature.
